Pro-life pregnancy centers now are receiving some of the tax dollars that used to go to the abortion giant Planned Parenthood.
Thanks to the Trump administration’s pro-life priorities, American’s tax dollars are being redirected from pro-abortion groups to pro-life nonprofits that provide prenatal care, ultrasounds, diapers, maternity clothes and more.
Obria, a California-based chain of pro-life pregnancy centers, received a $5.1 million Title X grant earlier this year, while Planned Parenthood lost approximately $60 million through the program, according to Mother Jones.
The Trump administration recently revamped the Title X program, which provides family planning services to low-income individuals, by creating a new rule that ensures American tax dollars are not indirectly subsidizing the abortion industry. The Protect Life rule requires that grant recipients either stop aborting unborn babies or completely separate their abortion businesses from their health services. Planned Parenthood refused to do either and gave up the grant money.
Meanwhile, medical facilities that care for both the woman and her child still have access to the funds.
Obria founder Kathleen Eaton Bravo said her goal is to become a pro-life alternative to Planned Parenthood, according to the report.
“I wanted to create a comprehensive medical clinic model that could compete nose-to-nose with the large abortion providers,” she wrote on the Obria website.

Obria also provides sex education that encourages abstinence and teaches people to avoid sexual risks. In July, it received a separate grant for $500,000 through the Department of Health and Human Services Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program, of which Planned Parenthood also is a recipient, the report states. The Trump administration tried to defund Planned Parenthood through that program as well, but the abortion chain sued and a court blocked the move.
Bravo told Catholic World Report in 2015 that Planned Parenthood’s sex education programs promote a “‘hook-up,’ contraceptive mentality among our young people. They teach children as young as 12 that they can have sex without consequences.”
While Obria clinics do not provide birth control, they do promote natural family planning methods. According to the report, the pro-life organization aims to create a “network of ‘life-affirming’ clinics that provide many of the services Planned Parenthood does—STI testing, ultrasounds, and cervical cancer screenings, but without the birth control, abortion, or abortion referrals.”
With the number of abortions still at approximately 900,000 a year in America and abortion activists pushing more women to have them, the country needs more pro-life medical centers and pregnancy resource centers to provide women and their babies with life-affirming, compassionate care and support.
