Sin is the Problem
Bigotry, racism and all hatred is the manifestation of our sin nature. Sin is the problem and the root cause of this incident at Skyline High School in Mesa, Arizona. Mankind’s only solution to bigotry, racism, and hate is the gospel of the grace of God. (Acts 20:24; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4)
Relying on educators, the police or any government entity to solve a spiritual problem is a problem itself. Sin and the sin nature we are all born with is a spiritual issue.
Only God can resolve spiritual matters and He already did. When God sent His only Son Jesus Christ, take away the sin of the world. The Mesa Police department and Skyline Highschool will put in a heartfelt effort to address this hate crime but they will fail.
‘Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. ‘
Romans 8:7
No government, no law, no amount of restraint the lost world places on lost man will cure the sin problem. Only God and His gospel of grace can change the heart of men and women. When a person believes the gospel God’s immediate response to your faith is to give that person a new nature.
‘Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. ‘
II Corinthians 5:17
Sin and the curse can only condemn which leads to guilt, then despair then comes death. In between sin and death, the lost person’s sin nature does what comes naturally, sin. Whether it be posting swastika signs, adultery, murder, or just being a pathological liar. It is all done because of the sin nature we are all born with.
‘Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— ‘
Romans 5:12
The good news is that God has already reconciled all mankind to Himself through His Son Jesus Christ. All anyone has to do is believe it and that person is saved!
‘that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses (sins) to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.’
II Corinthians 5:19
This is the gospel that saves.
- If you believe that you’re a sinner. (Romans 3:23)
- And believe by faith that God sent His only Son Jesus Christ, to die for your sins (1 Corinthians 15:3)
- And believe by faith that Jesus Christ was buried and rose from the dead three days later. (1 Corinthians 15:4)
If you believe…God promises to save you and seal you with the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 1:13) God will give you a new nature and your old ways are gone. You will no longer have the appetite for the things you use to do. Believers will continue to struggle with sin because of our flesh but our “sin nature” is gone nailed to the cross. So the power of sin that condemned us is gone instead we have the Holy Spirit living in us and God’s Word (the Bible) to strengthen us daily. Amazing right?
