This is why so many pro-life advocates do not use the term “pro-choice.”
Most abortion advocacy groups do not support choices for pregnant women. They support unregulated, unrestricted abortion on demand.
The National Abortion Federation’s newest publicity stunt is just one example. On Thursday, it launched a new prepaid gas card program to help women travel to abort their unborn babies, Fox News reports.
The Very Rev. Katherine Ragsdale, an Episcopal priest and interim president of NAF, said they plan to give the gas cards to patients in their abortion assistance program.
“In addition to helping patients cover the cost of their procedure, we also provide case management support and help covering travel-related expenses,” Ragsdale said in a statement. “We have already seen an increase in distances patients have had to travel to obtain the abortion care they need and expect this trend only to get worse.”
She said the program is just a pilot for now, and will run for three months. Gas cards will be given to women in states that have waiting periods and other abortion restrictions.
“Travel-related assistance is a service that shouldn’t have to be provided. People should have easy access to the health care they need – including abortion care – without the help of hotlines and donated funds,” she added.
Ragsdale also claimed the response so far has been “overwhelmingly positive.”

But her group is pushing abortions on women, not empowering them with the information and resources to make the best decisions for themselves and their babies.
NAF and other abortion groups do not provide free prenatal care, diapers or cribs to women who choose life for their babies. Sometimes, abortion activists even persuade women against adoption, claiming they will experience pain and trauma if they make an adoption plan instead of abort their baby.
Catherine Glenn Foster, president and CEO of Americans United for Life, America’s largest pro-life legal organization, believes money is what’s really behind the scheme.
“This is a half-baked publicity stunt by NAF meant to create the impression that there is even a need for this,” Foster said. “Why doesn’t the abortion industry – dominated by a ‘non-profit’ that has over a hundred million in the bank – lower its prices instead? Because it’s all about profit for them.”
Planned Parenthood reported a record $1.66 billion in revenue last year, while aborting 332,757 unborn babies. And while it claims to help women, it does not provide abortions for free. Vulnerable women and girls spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars to abort their unborn babies – often because the abortion industry has convinced them that there is no other good option.
Meanwhile, pro-life advocates provide millions of free services and material goods to pregnant and parenting mothers every year. They provide women with real choices, counseling them about parenting and adoption, as well as the risks of abortion and the facts about their unborn baby’s development. They offer free pregnancy tests, diapers, cribs, car seats, baby clothes and more. Many pregnancy resource centers provide free parenting classes and help mothers sign up for government assistance, if needed. Some pro-life groups even provide temporary shelter, childcare and scholarships to mothers in need.
Pro-life advocates are the ones providing real support for pregnant and parenting families. These support systems empower mothers and give life to their babies.
