On Thursday, the Texas Republican told a U.S. House committee how one of his staff members, Jonah, could have been aborted, according to the Washington Examiner.
Roy said doctors told Jonah’s parents that they should consider having an abortion after he and his twin were diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. “In the winter of 1996, a couple went in for a checkup. They were excited. They were recently informed they had twins,” the congressman said. Roy said the doctor conducted several tests and concluded that Jonah and his brother had the genetic disorder and likely would die within hours of their birth.
