Wantedness does not determine a human being’s worth.
But somewhere out there is a 5-year-old girl who may have gotten the wrong impression when her aunt talked to her about abortion.
Renee Bracey Sherman, an abortion activist who calls herself the “Beyoncé of Abortion Storytelling,” recently wrote on Twitter about talking to children about abortion, The Blaze reports.
“I’ve talked to my 5-year-old niece about my work and abortion in an age-appropriate way. She understands that kids are a handful and sometimes people don’t want to be pregnant. She gets it because it’s quite simple,” Sherman wrote Wednesday on Twitter.
She also shared an article from the pro-abortion site Rewire titled, “Having the Abortion Talk With Children Is Easier Than You Think. Just Ask These Parents.”
Later, Sherman laughed at the backlash she received for her tweet.
“My family and I are having a good laugh at this,” she wrote Thursday, linking to an article criticizing her for pushing her abortion advocacy on her young niece.
“Anti-abortion folks are super upset about this. Her mother had an abortion before her. Her life is made possible because of abortion,” Sherman continued. “Why is it ‘indoctrination’ to talk to a kid about how pregnancy happens & families are made but not to shout at people outside of a clinic?”

Talking with children about difficult issues is a struggle for most parents, but Sherman did not present her niece with facts. She pushed an agenda.
Abby Johnson responded by urging Sherman to tell her niece the truth that an abortion kills a child.
“She doesn’t understand because you didn’t give her the truth,” Johnson said. “Tell her that abortion kills a baby growing in a mommy’s tummy and see what she says. I dare you. No child believes in abortion.”
Most children, untainted by abortion activists’ deceptive rhetoric, understand that abortion is wrong based on the simple fact that a baby in the womb is a defenseless, living human being, and killing another human being is wrong. Most also understand that their parents have a responsibility to care for them.
Sherman is correct that raising children is difficult, and not every pregnancy is perfectly timed. But children deserve to know that their lives are not disposable, that they are valuable even when they are “a handful,” and abortion is never the answer.
