The Trump administration is encouraging countries across the world to stand up for the rights of unborn babies by opposing radical pro-abortion policies at the United Nations.
In a letter leaked to the Guardian and reportedly signed by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, the United States urged countries to join a “growing coalition” in opposing the “harmful” pro-abortion agenda.
Trump also reinstated and expanded the Mexico City Policy, which prohibits taxpayer funding to groups that promote or provide abortions overseas. The change defunded Planned Parenthood’s international arm of about $100 million in U.S. tax dollars and the British-based abortion chain Marie Stopes International of about $73 million.
The Guardian, a pro-abortion news outlet, described the letter as an attempt to “rollback women’s rights.” But abortion appears to be the real issue of concern.
